Planned Methods To Reduce Risks

  • Access to the battery rooms will be strictly limited to authorised personnel.
     

  • Access to the battery rooms will be strictly controlled by locking arrangements with keys only issued to authorised personnel.
     

  • Work on the batteries, will be carried out by authorised personnel working on a permit to work system.
     

  • If the room has an automatically controlled fire suppression system, the system must be disabled before the room is entered, and reinstated after the permit to work has been cancelled.
     

  • All work within the battery rooms will be controlled under a permit to work system.
     

  • The battery rooms will have the appropriate warning signs fixed to the access doors, complete with telephone numbers to contact in case of an emergency.
     

  • Access to the battery rooms will be kept clear at all times.
     

  • First aid equipment, including eye washing, shall be available adjacent to battery rooms.
     

  • No smoking or naked flames will be allowed in the battery room.
     

  • Ventilation vents to be kept clear at all times.
